Welcome to Seton Pre-school! We are so excited to meet all of you at Supply Drop-off day on Tuesday, September 4. Hopefully you will be receiving your class assignments this week, if not, please let us know and we will get that information out to you. Here are just a few other pieces of information that you might need prior to the start of school.
Start Day-The 3 year old class will have 2 drop in sessions from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, Sept. 5 and Thursday, Sept. 6. These are for the half day children to come and get their toes wet before starting their regular schedules on Friday, Sept.7. Please choose one of these time slots for your child to attend. All full day and school day children are welcome to stay for the entire day. The 4 year old class will begin as scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Snack- In pre-school each student will provide a class snack 1 time per month. We will have September’s snack calendar available at drop off day on the 4th. The calendar will include how many children are present on each day. Families are asked to provide a healthy snack as well as a beverage (water, milk, 100% juice). Birthdays are celebrated in preschool and will be included on the snack calendar. Your child may bring in whatever treat they would like for their birthday. If your child has a food allergy, please let his/her teacher know prior to the start of school. The nurse will provide us this information, but direct communication with you will ensure that we are pro-active on day 1. Per school policy, nuts of any kind are not allowed, including peanut butter and Nutella.
Supplies- In addition to the supplies on the supply list, we ask that each child bring a complete change of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, underpants). These can be kept in your child’s backpack in case of a bathroom accident, mud on the playground, or a messy art project. As with everything else coming to school, these should be labeled with your child’s name.
School Day/Full Day Students- Those children who will be staying for the afternoons will need to bring a lunch daily. We do have a refrigerator to store lunch boxes (again, please label these with your child’s name) as well as a microwave to heat up food as necessary. After lunch we will have a rest period and the children will need to provide a rest towel (beach towels are the perfect size) from home. These can be stored in your child’s cubby and will be sent home bi-weekly to be washed.
Website- We will be updating our website on a regular basis with upcoming events, classroom activities, and pictures. Snack calendars and monthly newsletters will also be included here.
CASE Training- This is essential for preschool parents who would like to volunteer in the classroom or on field trips. This is an online course that must be taken prior to volunteering. It takes approximately an hour and you will need to provide your completion certificate to the main office. There is a link to the training as well several other forms that need to be filled out in order for you to drive or volunteer under the “Parents” tab on the website (www.setoncs.org) in the CASE Training box.
Late/Illness- If your child is going to be late or absent from school please send an email directly to your child’s teacher. Messages usually do not get to us until later in the day. We do still ask for you to call the school and leave a message for the nurse.
Arrival and Dismissal- Children not enrolled in full day preschool can start arriving at 8:30 AM each morning. We will be starting our Morning Meeting each day promptly at 8:45 AM so please try to have your child in his/her classroom by then. The morning program dismisses at 11:15 AM. The afternoon program dismisses at 2:15 PM, at which time the full day students will move to the extended day room with Mrs. Davis. You may park along the street on either side of the school by the playground for drop off and pick up. Be sure to ring the “preschool” buzzer on the playground door to be let in. It is important that you sign your child in and out each day. Attendance sheets will be outside of your child’s classroom. If someone new will be picking your child up, please notify us in writing or via email and make sure that person has a picture ID. Your child’s safety is important to us and we want to make sure that each child leaves with the correct person.
We hope that you enjoy these last few days of summer!
